Wow, what a month for Sam, poor kiddo! One of his friends told him there is no Santa Claus, and he knows for SURE coz his parents flat out told him! Sam is approaching this cautiously.....I think he's afraid he won't get anything if he admits he doesn't believe! LOL...... sad about that but it was bound to happen in the 3rd grade.
About the squares, Sam is a very good student. and very good at math. When the problem asked how many right angles the rectangle has he put "2" and had the two circled on the top and bottom of the right side of the rectangle. Well needless to say i was surprised and asked him over and over, now Sam LOOK at it ... how many right angles are there? He was adamant and getting a little frustrated with me "TWO!" So i pointed at the other two and said (sternly) so WHAT are these two angles? and he sweetly replies, well mom those are LEFT angles, not right!" sweet sweet 9yo boy!
The (hush) sex talk is about here! He asked me what it was then informed me he knew....it's when you're married and you kiss naked under the covers. Ahem, sigh. Ok. He's only 9! Apparently some fifth graders have been talking at school. I kind of left it at that. Last nite when i tucked him in i said, "you know Sammy you can ask me anything, anything at all"
"Do you have any 'life questions' for me?"
Sam smiles and says, "yeah mom (pause) can I get a Husker room?!" awwwwww love that boy. But then he says, "Mom i really wanna know what (spells out) s*e*x is?" So i took a deep breath in and said, "well sweetie, it's when a man and a woman fall in love and get married and they kiss on each other and make a baby!" And he replies, "ok mom! thanks! i love you mom. gnite, sleep tight" and mama dodges another bullet! LOL I need to get me a good Christian book on the subject. I never thought i would be so shy about it! :D
