It's a gal's perogative....or prerogative!

I couldn't believe it when I found I had been spelling that word WRONG all these years!  It's PRErogative, not perogative!   So much for learning words from Bobby Brown songs!  LOL---now I'm showing my age......

I'm changing my 2010 word of the year, again, and that's my prerogative (still doesn't look right!)

My NEW and improved word is FORGIVE.  Plain and simple right?  Not so much.  It has been very hard for me/us these past 6weeks.  My sweet family is up against the fight of a lifetime......but have no fear, coz my family will persevere!  We are TIGHT!  BUT...... I have learned that I need to learn how to forgive in a whole big new way!  The kind of forgiveness we have to do when something bad happens to us for no apparent reason, when you are targeted by people with ill intentions, when you are deceived without any idea it's happening!   I always believed myself to be a forgiving, loving person.  But I have found out these past 6weeks that I have a LOT of forgiving to do.  And it will take time.  It may take all of 2010, that's why I am changing my word of the year.  Heck, it may be my word of the year for the next 10 YEARS!  (Let's hope not.....I want to heal faster than that!)  And you know what?  Forgiveness is HOW we heal!  yup....it's true.  We are called to forgive by the One who has forgiven us MILLIONS of times right?  And UNforgiveness leaves us with open wounds, with bitterness and unloving attitudes.  And I have no room for that in my life! :D  So I'm going to learn to forgive.  It may take all I have, but I'm going to master it!  

Have you heard of Beth Moore of Living Proof Ministries?   Well if she's ever in your town you should go!  I know not everyone agrees with her, but i ADORE her!  She's bubbly, excited and so in love with the Lord. Anyway, i went to her simulcast, or telecast, or whatever it's called, this weekend at a local church.  She spoke of forgiveness, and when she did it was like the gal was talking straight AT me!  LOL... one thing she said will stick with me forever.  She said (something like) --we need to forgive, and give the other person their dignity back!  Wow, to me that was life-changing!  Life changing..... for me and for the ones I forgive and who forgive me!  Powerful stuff in a relatively small word.  

So, I'm working on it.  This forgiveness.  And I aim to TRULY forgive.  Not just forgive the bring it up again and again when the moment serves me right!  (you all know what I'm talking about!)  I'm not saying I will ever FORGET the offenses my family has incurred.  I am not sure that God calls for that.  But He does want us to forgive.  And I'm working on it.

Sooooooooo there you have it!  My new 2010 word of the year: 

Forgiveness: "the act of forgiving"  or Forgive: 1. to grant pardon for or remission of (an offense, debt, etc)  2. To give up all claim on account of;remit  3. to grant pardon to (a person) 4. to cease to feel resentment against 5. to cancel an indebtedness or liability of  6. to pardon an offense or an offender

k.....here we go. I want to get good at this! I pray that I can do this whole heartedly and for good.  No turning back.  We need this!  :D
